Five years ago, Ray Smith’s son, Shane, started playing paintball. Having a business background and an eagerness to go away from vehicle traveling, Smith said he looked into paintball as a business paintball gun opportunity.

“I thought, ‘This is something I could enter,’ ” said Smith, owner of Midwest Paintball Inc. “Everybody needs something to do, to get away from work and stress.
